Management is provided by competent and bonded volunteers, certified diabetes educators, physicians, nurses, and parents of children with diabetes. These volunteers strive to make the “home away from home” experience one that teaches new techniques for good diabetes control through diet, exercise, insulin and blood sugar monitoring. The skills learned may lead to better control when the child returns home.
